How to Start Exercising Properly
March 1, 2018Tips for Avoiding Injuries
March 17, 2018Do you feel sluggish and out of energy lately? Your lifestyle may be to blame! Exercising can make you feel more tired at first, however, the more you exercise, the more energy you end up having. Your nutrition also plays a key role in how energized you feel throughout your day. That’s because food is your body’s fuel to work from. Modern delivery services, pre-packaged foods and easy options are making the modern diet poor, meaning that your body will run poorly on these foods. A nutritional assessment can help get your diet back on track. Paired with exercise, you can see your energy levels soar to help you get through your day. Find out how diet and exercise can give you an energy boost and why they are both so important to your health!
Feeling Tired at First
Have you noticed that you sometimes feel more tired after exercising? That is normal if you haven’t worked out in a while or if you start exercising too hard. Many people make goals to exercise but they jump into it too quickly or go too hard. This can cause injury, and we see this all the time in patients. When exercising (or starting an exercise routine) you have to start small. Start with walking for a certain amount of time each day, then work up to jogging, and then running. Add in weights to your exercise, but start low and work your way up. We get many people into our center for sports or exercise injuries because they did too much, too fast, for too long.
If you feel tired when exercise, make sure you do a warm-up instead of jumping straight into it. You can get an energy boost through light stretching and doing a cardio warm-up before weights or playing sports. Exercise can actually make you feel more tired at first and this can last for a week or two. However, keep at it and you will actually have more energy from exercising more. This is one of nature’s best ways to get an energy boost and can work better than caffeine or other unnatural forms of energy for many people.
What Happens If You’re Injured?
You can start exercising and injure yourself. Avoid extreme exercise, as this will actually fatigue you way more and leave you susceptible to injuries. Your muscles build themselves over time. With our physical therapy services, we custom-design workouts, stretches, eating plans and small exercises around our patient’s injuries or chronic conditions. Doing a series of exercises for 5-15 reps (depending on the patient) is one of the best ways to heal injured muscles. We never do too much, but just enough to build muscles up to become stronger. The same happens with exercise. You do a series of exercises for a few reps, several times and you give your body a great workout.
For athletes that want to get an even better energy boost or gain an edge over their competition, vibration therapy may be for you. This is a therapy designed to help heal your muscles and make them stronger. Vibration therapy is a machine that any person can use—especially the disabled—that consists of a platform that patients stand on. This vibration machine sends vibrations throughout the body, causing the muscles to contract and relax dozens of times per second. This leaves patients with an amazing workout in just a few minutes.
Zero In on Your Nutrition
Diet and exercise go hand-in-hand. If you are wanting to get an energy boost from exercising, give yourself an extra edge by supplementing your exercise with great nutrition. You need to be eating plenty of carbohydrates, proteins and fats to have energy to work out. Cutting out one of these will cause you health problems. Make sure you eat low amounts of sugar and processed foods. For exercising, choose a high-protein food such as a protein shake, cheese or nuts. Also make sure you are getting all of the essential vitamins and minerals a healthy diet needs. Eating fewer sugars will give you an energy boost and over time, you will have much more energy and your body will simply feel better.
Energy Boost through Diet and Exercise
Studies show that diet and exercise play a major role in the amount of energy you have. Studies that have been done all report that people who participated in regular physical activity all had an energy boost. This includes people who have cancer or chronic diseases. The American Heart Association recommends that everyone get at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise each week. Are you getting enough? If you’re not, consider the energy boost you can get from adding an exercise routine to your week. Top that off with proper nutrition, and you’ll get an even bigger energy boost. Plus, you’ll be healthier, feel better, have fewer health problems and you’ll reach your weight goals.
