- The Cat-Cow Stretch: Begin on all fours, with your hands directly below your shoulders and your knees directly below your hips. As you inhale, arch the spine up towards the ceiling while tucking in your chin. This is known as “the cow”. As you exhale, round the back like a cat – tuck in the chin and draw the belly button inward. Repeat this 10 times.
- The Bridge: Lie on your back with the knees bent and feet flat on the floor, hip-width apart. Press into your heels to lift your hips off the ground until you create a straight line from shoulders to knees. Hold for 5 seconds and lower slowly back down. Repeat 10 times or until fatigue.
- The Plank: Start in a prone (on your stomach) position, with elbows directly below the shoulders and feet together. Push up onto the toes so that you’re balancing on your forearms and toes, creating a straight line from head to toe. Make sure not to arch or sag your back. Hold this position for 30 seconds, then lower to the floor. Repeat 5 times.
- The Child’s Pose: Begin by kneeling on the floor and then sit back onto your heels. Slowly move forward until your forehead is resting on the ground and your arms are extended in front of you. Relax into this position, focusing on deep breathing for several minutes before coming out of it slowly.
